Scene 2 : Henry: Come on, let´s keep it in English. We need all the practice we can get. Julia: Ay por favor. Alejandro: Pablo's right. We've only got three weeks to get this perfect. What's the matter with you? (looking at Ana. Ana is quietly sobbing). Ana: It's all my teacher's fault? Alejandro: What is? Ana: The chicken thing. He always used to tell us that a chicken was a kitchen and a kitchen was a chicken. Now I just don't know which is which! I'm so confused. (bigger sobs) Alejandro: That's a difficult one (mockingly). What does your psychiatrist think? Ana: Oh shut up! Perez: Jow can we jelp you? (earnestly) Ana: Don't worry Perez. I'll sort it out. Henry: I think she's the one that needs the help! (looking at Julia) Perez: What do you mean? Henry: No wonder she can't remember her lines after all her nocturnal activities. Julia: (in denial) What are you talking about? Henry: Last night I saw you absolutely sozzled! Perez: (to Alejandro) What is sizzled? Alejandro: Sozzled! . . . Drunk. You know...(indicating drinking motion) Perez: (to Julia) Is that true? Julia: Well. . . . . . okay, okay I admit I did have a few too many. Actually. . . . . my head's killing me. I think I need a lie down. (Julia goes to sit on sofa on stage). Ana: God, it's always about her, isn't it? Alejandro: (Stands up, moves to centre stage) This is absolutely great. We have one traumatised actress amongst us and another who is an alcoholic! Does anyone else want to admit any problems? Perez: Well . . . . I have terrible trouble sleeping at night. Alejandro: (scornfully) I was being sarcastic! |
